Session #3: Honkey Tonk Woman

The introduction to Faye is a good episode. The audience sees her tough exterior and that she will do anything to save her own skin. She says she is a gypsy who cannot stay in one place for too long. This episode only scratches the surface of Faye, but does well to establish her character. She is a gambler and a good one at that. One is almost surprised that she ever loses. She has an enormous debt that she doesn't care much about paying off, but instead is proud of.

The title of this episode can be contrasted with session 24, "Hard Luck Woman." From the two episode titles, we can already see that the character of Faye progresses from the surface to deeper levels.

The ending phrase in this episode is very deep and applies to everyone: Easy Come, Easy Go...And isn't that how Faye is? She comes and goes as she pleases.

I also have to say I love the interactions between Faye and Spike in this episode too... it sets up the contrasting dynamics in their relationship. From their flirtatious side, to their respect for one another cuz of what they have in common (even though she cheats and steals from Spike, I think he has respect for her since she lives their life how they please - and she can take care of herself), and their antagonism to each other too.
