Faye's past again. But this does show the over-developed egos of Spike and Jet. The story about the treasure hunt explains it, too. When the man in the story opened up the treasure, he became old and died. That story has more bearing on the plot then at first glance. Oh yes, it was funny that Jet remarked, "Now I know why he became an old man" after all the work they did to get the VCR. But what does this myth have to do with the rest of Bebop?
Think Spike. He is spending his time on Bebop as "in a dream." But when time comes to face his past, or the treasure, he opens up that door and reaches a point he cannot return from. He, like the man in the myth, dies.
Faye's cry to herself in the video is very haunting. She at approximately age 10 cheering, "don't lose me" and Faye has, indeed, lost that childhood person. It is very harsh for her to realize that she cannot remember anything by herself, and she has a new drive to remember that little girl who made the videotape. This is a turning point for Faye, she now has to find her past and find herself before she can move on to her future.
