"Everything has a beginning and an end. Life is just a cycle of stops and starts. There are ends we don't desire, but they're inevitable. We have to face them. That's what being human is all about. It's been a fast trip for Bebop, only two episodes left. But make sure you pay close attention to the end."
The preview to this episode says more than I ever could. Spike and Jet are drinking at the Loser Bar, Jet complaining that Faye, Ed, and Ein ruined their lives. His complaining shows he misses having them on the Bebop and is worried about them. Jet's complaints are cut off by gunfire. The syndicate has come to kill Spike. Shin, Lin's twin brother, decides to help Spike and Jet escape. He represents the side of the syndicate that wanted Spike to come back and take over opposed to his brother who supported Vicious.
Faye is in a Mars airport, and she overhears an old woman complaining that she had been forgotten and has no place to go to. Her son Alfredo (Punch from Big Shot) finds her and says she was supposed to meet him somewhere else. He had not forgotten her, but there had been a misunderstanding. Perhaps Faye felt the same way, that she had no place to go, but knew that the Bebop would always be open for her to come back.
Faye receives a call from Spike who tells her to come back because Jet's leg got shot. She hangs up on him because she doesn't like to be told what to do. A woman driving a sports car is being shot at, and Faye hops in the car to save her. That woman is Julia. Julia asks Faye to give a message to Spike, leaving Faye wondering how Julia knew she knew Spike. Most likely, Julia had heard that Spike was traveling with a female bounty hunter named Faye. Faye goes to give Spike the message.
On the Bebop, Jet tells Spike a story about a man climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. "Men only think about their past before they die," he says, "As if they're searching for proof they're really alive."
Faye shows up at the Bebop and tries to sell Spike the message, since she does not want to tell him. The ship gets attacked by the Syndicate, and Faye gives him the message anyway. Jet tells Spike through the intercom, "Find what you lost and get it back." Jet understands that Spike is not merely hung up on his past, but he is searching for the woman who would make his future worthwhile. Jet knows this may be the last time he sees Spike.
Meanwhile, Vicious has taken over the Red Dragon syndicate. Spike meets Julia in the graveyard. She pulls a gun on him. TO BE CONTINUED.
